Facts
[A.], a Georgian national born in 1967, filed an asylum application in Switzerland on 10 August 2003 under a false identity, claiming to be of Chechen origin. His application was rejected on 14 October 2004 by the Federal Office for Refugees (ODR) on the grounds that he had not established his identity and that his statements were vague and unsupported.
[A.] was arrested on 10 February 2006 on the basis of an arrest warrant issued on 10 January 2006 by a Tbilisi (Georgia) Court for the armed gang attack on a bus in August 2001 and a gang robbery in a villa in December 2001. The formal extradition request was presented on 6 March 2006 by the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia.
[A.] opposed his extradition, alleging that the prosecution was motivated by political reasons due to his family's opposition to the ruling power. The Federal Office of Justice (OFJ) granted the extradition on 25 August 2006, subject to the decision of the Federal Tribunal regarding any political motives.
