Facts
The appellants [A.X.] and [B.X.] have filed an appeal in public law matters against the judgment of the Appellationsgericht of the canton of Basel-Stadt as administrative court of 7 November 2007. The subject of the proceedings was the infringement of the forest distance by a planned construction project of the [Y.] foundation in Basel. The appellants argued that the requirements for granting an exception permit for the infringement of the forest distance were not met.
The Federal Court examined the admissibility of the appeal and found that the appellants have the requisite standing to bring the appeal. The court also examined the issue of the infringement of the forest distance and found that the cantonal authorities had presented the necessary important reasons for granting an exception permit in a comprehensible manner.
